Zoe Saldana Talks Disrespect and Marrying Marco Perego With Marie Claire

Zoe Saldana is a role model in every sense of the word. So its no wonder she covered Marie Claire’ August Issue and dropped major relationship and self-respect gems.

Her relationships timeline goes: an 11-year relationship with her ex-fiance, Keith Britton, before breaking it off in 2011 and starting an on-and-off relationship with Bradley Cooper for a year after. Most thought she was destined to become Mrs. Cooper but her relationship motto, “not to settle,” felt otherwise.

“If you’re not happy with a person, leave. And wait until you find that one person who makes you feel good about yourself every single day and is not expecting you to change, but to grow.”

In 2013 Saldana married her boyfriend Marco Perego in what seemed like an over night affair, but when you know, why wait. “I don’t do the ABCs. I do what my heart says, what my heart feels. So from the moment I met my husband, we were together. We knew,” she told the magazine about her exchange of vows after a few months of dating.

However her whirlwind romance wasn’t something that came easy for the beautiful star. Wthout naming names she talked being disrespected by her ex which taught her a valuable lesson on burning bridges.

“I have been in relationships where a man has disrespected me, and I don’t need to be friends with that man anymore. I don’t want to be the one going, ‘I’m cool, because I’m friends with all my exes.’ There’s a reason why you’re called an ex. I crossed you off my list. Moving on. You cross a line, you need to know that you’re going to walk this earth knowing that there’s an individual who has no respect for you.”
