The Aaliyah Biopic rumors were true, they just didn’t have all the facts right.
VH1 won’t be airing the film based on the Christopher Farley biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman, Lifetime will. And the rumor of Keshia Chante getting the lead spot was already claimed by Zendaya Coleman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Replay” singer will be rocking baggy pants and tight midi shirts for the next few months as she finishes the tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.
Unable to contain her excitement, the actress took to her Twitter to confirm the rumors in a series of tweets, “beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven #babygirl #forever #OneInAMillion” and “I’m just a 17 year old girl who got cast to play one of her biggest inspirations #positive.”
“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her.” The former Disney star continued. “Show how much she accomplished in only 22 years….she’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah, I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven.”
Despite the family’s adament rejection towards the production of the film, Aaliyah Productions Inc. will be producing the film. The Michael Elliot-written film will be directed by Bradley Walsh.
