Zendaya Coleman has left the building.
We promised you there would be more drama-filled updates to unfold for the Aaliyah biopic—this time its about their main star Zendaya Coleman.
The internet trolls have spit and chewed the 17-year-old star out over various reasons and now she’s bowed out of her role of a lifetime. Lifetime took to their Twitter to announce the news, “We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.”

It’s only been a few weeks since it was revealed that Lifetime would be producing Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, and its become more of a headache than a little bit. The Disney Channel star landed the lead role as the singer after a mass of celebs—like Teyana Taylor and Keshia Chante—gunned for the role. And while she felt gratitude, many did not, mainly because they didn’t support the TV network producing the film. The main culprits (with the right reasons) were Aaliyah’s family.
