Welcome Home Remy Ma!
After six and a half years in prison, Remy Ma—real name Reminisce Smith—is officially home. Remy had to abruptly drop out the rap game after she was charged with shooting Makeeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen over a missing $3,000. She was originally sentenced to eight years but came out a year and a half early.
Before she left the game, she already gained a Grammy nomination, dropped a solo album, and affiliated herself with the-then top group, Terror Squad. She had confident hits like “Conceited” and reflective tracks like “What’s Going On.” She even mustard up two femcee beefs between Nicki Minaj and Foxy Brown before doing her bid. And now she’s back.
While most of NY rejoices over the return of the lyricist, other’s don’t see the hype, and a few don’t know her but are just following the trend. Which makes for some hilarious reactions to the news. As Twitter—like much of the hip hop community—wait for the first picture of her to surface, they are already letting her trend at the top spot. Check out the best mixed review tweets from the twittersphere about her release.
