Wale has always had women’s best interest in heart. Going against the grain of other rappers, Wale made a reputation to praise women with his songs (“Ambitious Girl I & II”) and videos (“Diary”). Early in his career, he praised the hardworking women and he showered all beauties with love. However today, in Wale’s opinion, the same respect can’t be said for the media and society and of women themselves.
If you missed it, the MMG rapper released his latest video “The Body” with little-to-no noise about it. The video however, went against the norm of what we’re used to seeing as it featured a natural haired-model, Mariah, of brown skin complexion.
Necole Bitchie reached out to him as to why he went back to his roots in which he helped uplift the female image. His response was that he wanted to take it back to the days when “black women were not hyper-sexualized objects created by doctors with the sole intent to take pictures.”
