A Moment of Silence: Celebs Pay Respect to ESPN Anchorman Stuart Scott

Yesterday (Jan 4) we lost legendary ESPN anchorman Stuart Scott to his long battle to cancer. Scott was 49.

As soon as the heartbreaking announcement was made, the internet was flooded with great memories the father of two left on celebrities, fans, and the broad world of sports. ESPN president, John Skipper, released a statement on his death:

“ESPN and everyone in the sports world have lost a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure in Stuart Scott. Who engages in mixed martial arts training in the midst of chemotherapy treatments? Who leaves a hospital procedure to return to the set? His energetic and unwavering devotion to his family and to his work while fighting the battle of his life left us in awe, and he leaves a void that can never be replaced.”

This past summer he was awarded the Jimmy V Perseverance Award for his seven year battle with cancer and over 20 year career with ESPN at the 2014 ESPYs awards.  He’s survived by his ex-wife, girlfriend, and two daughters Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15.
