Street Near Where Muhammad Ali Fought 8 Times Renamed ‘Muhammad Ali Way’

In memory of the late Muhammad Ali, New York has renamed one of their prominent streets “Muhammad Ali Way.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday (Jun 7), that NY’s West 33rd Street has been officially tagged “Muhammad Ali Way.” West 33rd Street runs adjacent to Madison Square Garden, where the boxing legend fought eight times, including his most famous fight against Joe Frazier in 1971.

The new street names are many of the honors bestowed upon the legend ahead of the three-time world heavyweight champion’s funeral that will be held Thursday and Friday in his birthplace of Louisville, Kentucky.
