One day after K. Michelle released her sophomore album, Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart, she releases the music video for “Something About The Night.”

Directed by Child Basquiat, the reality star channels Billie Holiday and heads back into the 1940s for her jazz-themed visual. In four minutes, K manages to show the parallel comparison of Ms. Holiday’s life and her own—despite the heavy drug use that contributed to her death.
In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, K. Michelle revealed that heartbreak and weed fuel her studio time (much like Billie’s sad sound and demise).
“If I don’t have heartbreak and I don’t have issues, what am I going to write about? That’s sick right? Just sick. It’s like it hurts me so bad and I just get in that studio, I be crying, high, drinking and just going through the whole thing. But I was able to create [songs]!”
