Early Monday (Oct 5), American Airlines Flight 550 had to be emergency landed after the pilot died mid-flight.
The airline spokesperson told Fox News the flight was headed to Boston from Phoenix carrying 147 passengers when it was diverted to Syracuse, where the co-pilot landed the plane.
Passengers were delayed for a bit before AA sent a new flight crew to Syracuse to fly the passengers to their final destination. The airline has yet to release the pilot’s name or any details of his condition.
We’re glad the co-pilot was able to stay calm in that emergency situation. Our condolences to the family of the pilot.
