Is the demise of Cash Money Records coming?
After Tyga, Mystikal, and Busta Rhymes publicly aired their disdain for Birdman and Slim’s label, YMCMB’s most recognized veteran artist, Lil Wayne, is calling it quits too.
Today (Dec 4) in a surprising turn of events, Weezy hopped on Twitter to announce his long, long-awaited album Tha Carter V—which was scheduled to drop December 9th—has been pushed back yet again, thanks to his management. “To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it.”
After apologizing to his fans, he reiterated Tyga’s sentiments about being hostage to the label. Blac Chyna’s ex was the most recent signee to push his album back and tweet about wanting to party ways with YMCMB, “Gold album been done. my label holding me hostage so i can’t release nothing. might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it.” Now Weezy is singing similar claims about the label he called home for over twenty years.
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy—I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u”
After seeing his tweets, Pusha T invited Wayne to join him at G.O.O.D. Music. Flip the page to check out the rest of the tweets.
