Kanye West might have to use some of his wedding money to pay attorneys for his pending lawsuit. The producer was slammed with a $800k lawsuit for his illegally sample in his 2006 song “Girls Girls Girls Remix.”
Robert Poindexter from the ’70s group The Persuaders filed a lawsuit in New York on May 28 for his illegal use of “Trying Girls Out (the Composition).
“Kanye West has never acquired authorization from me or the copyright owners of the composition,” Poindexter’s documents stated. The rapper “willfully infringed the composition copyright for private and financial gain by selling and distributing an untold amount of tangible and digital copies.”
The singer claims to have lost millions because the new father failed to credit him on the track. He also admits that this isn’t the first time he took legal action but it was initially tossed earlier this year when West failed to respond.
We don’t know if he’ll get the full amount, but what’s a couple hundred to Ye?
