Lebron James surprised everyone with his decision to leave the Miami Heats and head back home to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Originally from Ohio, the 29-year-old began his professional career with the Cavs. He spent seven seasons before he got tired of being ringless and and headed to Miami. Completing Big-3—Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh—they won two rings. But after their upsetting loss in the finals this year, he reevaluated his priorities and realized home will always be where the heart is.
“My relationship with northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now,” he told Sports Illustrated in an exclusive announcement interview.
“I’m not promising a championship. I know how hard that is to deliver. We’re not ready right now. No way. Of course, I want to win next year, but I’m realistic. It will be a long process, much longer than it was in 2010.”
Championships or not, Cleveland is just happy to have their champ back. Ever since King James left four years ago, his former team became one of the league’s worst franchises with a 97-215 record and failure to make the playoffs at all.
Ever since the news broke, Lebron James took over the internet and Twitter.
