The City of Baltimore is has reached a $6.4 million settlement in the wrongful death of Freddie Gray.
The settlement will be voted on Wednesday by the Baltimore Board of Estimates and will be paid to the family over the course of two years.
“The proposed settlement agreement going before the Board of Estimates should not be interpreted as a judgment on the guilt or innocence of the officers facing trial,” Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said in a statement.
This settlement comes only a week after a judge ordered individual trials for each of the six officers charged in the death of Gray. Freddie Gray, 25, died from a spinal injury he suffered while in the back of a police transport van back in April.
