‘The Flash’ has a new “dope” director.
Rick Famuyiwa has signed onto direct the Warner Bros. superhero movie, ‘The Flash,’ following the departure of Seth Grahame-Smith, who was set to make his directorial debut with the project.
Via Hollywood Reporter:
The project will retain Grahame-Smith’s script, which he wrote working off of a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Lego Movie duo who once were eyeing it as a possible directing vehicle.
The Flash already has a release date — March 16, 2018 — and a star, Ezra Miller, who’s portraying the classic hero known as “the fastest man alive.” The actor made his debut in Batman v Superman.
After directing 2002’s Brown Sugar and 2010 romantic comedy Our Family Wedding, Famuyiwa caught the industry’s eye with Dope, the 2015 film that was a breakout at Sundance and won the prize for best editing. He recently helmed HBO’s original film Confirmation, starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill.
