Brandy + 22 Other Celebs That Became a Honorary Aka

Brandy Norwood

Yesterday Brandy became an Honorary Aka.

Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) is the oldest sorority created by African American college women. It’s one of the five out of nine sororities and fraternities founded on the campus of Howard University.

The singer was initiated yesterday during the organization’s 66th Boule in North Carolina. Her mother was there to support her induction as well as represent her own chapter, the Southern University’s Beta Psi chapter.  Stoked over embarking on a new sisterhood, the singer and actress posted a picture with her mother, both stunning in all white, on Instagram.

She captioned it:

Today was a very special day. I became and honorary member of #AlphaKappaAlpha! I made this very special lady proud. @sonjanorwood- My mom’s legacy as an #AKA continues. Love to all my #Sorors <3 #sisterhood #ethics #strength #class #leadership #intellect #power #LOVE

Hitting their signature poses, The Game actress is very appreciative of her new title and she joins a growing list of entertainers that are honorary Aka members. Flip the page to see her sorors.
