5 Fast Facts About The First Black Bachelorette Rachel LindsayABC has just made history — and during Black History Month nonetheless– with their first black bachelorette Rachel Lindsay.

We’ll ignore the fact that it took 15 years and 33 seasons later to happen and the fact that there still hasn’t been a black bachelor to send a few claps towards the network for diversifying their reality romance series.

Lindsay is currently pining for this season’s bachelor Nick Viall but now that the cat’s out the bag about the next bachelorette, we already know she’s out the running.

Which is fine…for pop culture history’s sake.

The 13th season will premiere May 22, so until you watch Lindsay break hearts as she finds a suitor to spend the rest of her life (or press tour) with, here are 5 fast facts about the first black bachelorette Rachel Lindsay.

5 Fast Facts About The First Black Bachelorette Rachel LindsayShe’s an Attorney

Lindsay has degrees on top of degrees. After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas she got her law degree from Marquette University. When the camera’s turn off she’s an insurance lawyer in Dallas, Texas.

Close Family Ties

Rachel is close to her family including her strict father who is in the same career field as her as a federal judge. She’s also a new aunt.

She’s Making Bachelor History

No we’re not reiterating that she’s the 1st BB (black bachelorette), but we’re stating that she’s already made history on the series when she became the first black contestant to ever win the first-impression rose.

30 is the New 20

At 31, she’s one of oldest bachelorettes on the show but that’s okay with her since she’s closer to Nick’s age of 36.

Tat Tat Tatted Up

Okay maybe she’s not tatted up but she does have the word “reciprocity” inked on her right rib cage and a bible verse on her left wrist.
