BET Spells Lionel Richie’s Name Wrong

Lionel Richie

Someone’s getting fired!

BET honored Lionel Richie as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2014 BET Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday (June 29) in Los Angeles.

However instead of honoring the 65-year-old entertainer, the actually gave the award to “Lionel Ritchie” being as that’s how they spelled his name on the screen.  After enjoying a tribute from John Legend and Yolanda Adams before performing his own hits, Lionel spoke in front of the 8+ million viewers with a major type. We guess with all they had to do to get ready, they forgot to research how to spell his last name.

Hopefully the typo was only for live TV and not on his actual award.

Only BET…
