Audra McDonald Makes Broadway History

Audra McDonald

Audra McDonald made history last night at the 2014 Tony Awards. The Broadway actress won her sixth Tony for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson Bar & Grill. Her latest win marks her as the only women to earn the amount she has shelved on her mantle.

In her tear-jerking speech, the humbled diva thanked the past actresses that inspired her before paying homage to the woman behind her award winning adaptation noting that she “deserved more than she was given.”

Congratulations Audra!
