A jury found Aaron Hernandez guilty of first degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.
The verdict comes after three months of trial and after a week of deliberation. The jury felt that the former Patriot star acted “with extreme atrocity or cruelty,” in the death of Lloyd who was killed in June of 2013.
For this crime, he faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. He will be formally sentenced at a later date.
The 25-year-old is also facing murder charges in the drive-by shootings of two men outside a Boston nightclub in 2012. Trial for that is to begin in June but is said to have been put on hold.
