Doing the opposite of that short-lived trend, #FireChallenge, celebrities are participating in the #IceBucketChallenge. The challenge is to raise awareness and money for the Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease affects a person’s muscle strength and coordination. It rapidly takes over your ability to do basic tasks like going up steps and swallowing. And before its viral takeover this summer it was rarely discussed.
The challenge was inspired by 29-year-old former college baseball player and ALS sufferer, Pete Frates and has since raised over $13 million. The #IceBucketChallenge is a dare via social networks. When dared, you can either get drenched in ice water and nominate three others to join, or donate to the ALS charity of your choice.
The celebrities that are being provoked are donating and still partaking in this refreshing dip of cold water. Kerry Washington was on set when she participated in the game. J.Lo had three ice baths before calling out Pitbull and Iggy Azalea. Azalea happily responded in her orange bikini and cold water before calling T.I., Charli XCX, and Rita Ora.
Road to redemption singer, Chris Brown challenged his flag football teammates Bow Wow, Trey Songz, and The Game. And Drake was on stage when Lil Wayne doused him with water. As stars continue to respond to their nominations all eyes are waiting for Mrs. Carter to answer her many nominations.
While wearing a “Beyonce is Bae” shirt, Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury nominated the Houston native. However he’s among other stars that have spewed her name in their top three spot.
So Bey, will you get cold and wet for the sake of a good cause?
